Sept 30 2013, the day after I returned from a week in San Diego was a treat at The Caledonian on College Street in Toronto. The reason, Willie Tate who is Master Distiller & Brand Ambassador for Isle of Jura Single Malt Whiskey was appearing probably for the last time due to his pending retirement. This was my first time meeting the man, although I am familiar with Jura, as well as The Dalmore, Scotch brands. The tasting comprised of the Jura 12, 16, Superstition and the Prophecy and finished with the forthcoming (at least to Ontario through the LCBO) Dalmore King Alexander. The Scotches as usual were quite good, and the Dalmore King Alexander proved to be a treat and will be a good scotch in the $200’s. Willie Tate, had great stories of his many years in the industry and was great in answering questions and signing a bottle and tasting mat for me. Pictures will be posted here soon but can be found at the g2whisky pinterest board. So while I’ll let you know about tastings through my computer, it is best to get off your and get out there to a tasting and meet some new people. HINT: scotches and whiskies taste better with friendly people NOT with people you speak to through keystrokes.

I broke our first jar opener. The Container Store was the only place I could find that had the same type of jar opener. It is the only one that my wife can use. The jar opener was here in a very short time. Hurray!!!! It is once again easy to open jars.

I can’t help but share a little trick that I’d learned for getting stuck jar lids to budge. While you’re trying to open a jar, think about something else, like if the counters need to be cleaned or that little squirrel outside the kitchen window… and *pop* the lid just comes off. It works darn near every time, I wish I knew why.
